Pipeline Operator

Location: Cocodrie , LA

Job Objective

Monitors maintains, and operates oil and gas pipeline and facility assets safely and efficiently working in Cocodrie.

Job Duties and Expectations

  • Reviews the prior shift’s hand-off log, reviews maintenance and regulatory schedule to develop weekly work plan and tends to daily pipeline operations as required, such as one-call management, facility inspections, regulatory tasks, pigging and chemical ops, interface with third-party interconnect employees and assists with project work as required.
  • Monitors the pipelines and facilities for deficiencies requiring repairs and issues a work order for a follow-up, and continuously look for improved methods of operating and maintaining the assets.
  • Performs month sample pot shake-outs, cuts tickets, and performs over and shorts on assets.
  • Works closely with the regulatory team to perform audits, complete required PMs, and reports to management on action items and areas for improvement.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Understands the asset profit and loss statement, asks questions concerning the financials, and actively seeks ways reduce costs and improve revenues.
  • Develops mini-games to help drive improvements and improve morale.
  • Upholds the company values and holds others responsible for doing the same.
  • Participates in daily and weekly ops meetings with your team to plan the work schedule and develop goals for the week.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by practicing pipeline standards, adhering to legal regulations, and conducting inspections.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years minimum oil and gas plant and pipeline experience, experience in both Gas and Liquid pipeline operations.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to perform work assignments with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Ability to accurately perform tasks.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with different truck groups that transport product.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook).
  • Ability to make independent, rational decisions, as required.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of the plant process.
  • Ability to work alone and highly motivated.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in and around process areas. Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
  • Self-starter, team player, and comfortable working under pressure.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
